Winthrop Department of Public Health and Clinical Services to Host Annual Recovery Event

WINTHROP — The Town of Winthrop and the Winthrop Department of Public Health and Clinical Services will host the 4th Annual Recovery Event and candlelight procession later this month.

This year’s recovery event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 6-8 p.m., and feature a candlelight procession, lived experience recovery stories, local vendors, resource tables, and a variety of speakers and local officials will be in attendance.

Candles and purple ribbons will be distributed at Town Hall, 1 Metcalf Square.

The candlelight procession will begin at 6:30 p.m., starting at Town Hall, walking down Pauline Street, pausing for a moment of silence at the E.B. Newton School, and ending at Harold French Square (Winthrop Center).

The event is held to honor and remember loved ones who lost their lives to addiction, overdoses, and trauma, while also highlighting recovery.

This is a free event, and community members are encouraged to attend to show support for those who have lost loved ones or those who are struggling with substance misuse. Food and refreshments will be served.
