At about 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, Tewksbury Police learned that a man staying at a Main Street motel had an outstanding warrant from Lawrence District Court.
Based on his criminal history, Tewksbury Police requested assistance from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT team in serving the arrest warrant.
Officers arrested CANDELARIO at the motel at about 6 a.m. Wednesday.
During the arrest, officers found approximately 49.1 grams of suspected cocaine on him.
During booking, police determined that CANDELARIO, who is known to Tewksbury Police, had used a false identification document to rent the motel room.
Two women were also inside the motel room. A subsequent investigation indicated that CANDELARIO had held them against their will.
During the arrest, CANDELARIO threatened the women in an attempt to prevent them from speaking with investigators.
CANDELARIO was arraigned Thursday in Lowell District Court, where he was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Monday, Nov. 2.
