Dunstable Fire Department Receives $10,523.14 State Grant to Improve Safety Equipment

DUNSTABLE — Chief William Farrell is pleased to share that the Dunstable Fire Department was awarded a $10,523.14 grant through the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program, administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services (DFS).

The funding has supported the purchase of safety equipment designed to enhance firefighter protection, operational readiness, and emergency response capabilities.

The Dunstable Fire Department will utilize the funding to purchase rescue airbags for lifting heavy machinery, a hydra-ram for forcible entry, and nozzles to streamline operations, ensuring that every truck is equally equipped.

The grant is administered on a cost-reimbursement basis, with reimbursement requests submitted by July 24, 2026.

“This funding will allow us to purchase much-needed equipment that will equip our department to better serve our residents and community,” said Chief Farrell. “Having the same equipment on each apparatus ensures a consistent response by our crews throughout each call.”
