Bedford Police Dispatcher Eddie Thephavong Nationally Recognized During Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

BEDFORD — Police Chief Ken Fong is pleased to share that dispatcher Eddie Thephavong has been nationally recognized by Exacom during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Exacom, a national multimedia logging company, recognized dispatchers across the nation for their work.

The Bedford Police Department is proud to share that Eddie Thephavong has been recognized as one of five outstanding dispatchers in the country, a testament to his character and commitment.

Thephavong, born in Laos, came to Philadelphia as a child. His journey has been anything but easy, as English is not his first language. He has served as a volunteer firefighter and worked in the airline industry, preparing him for the high-stakes calls dispatchers receive.

Thephavong was nominated by his peers for his positive attitude and motivation. He has worked hard during his time as a dispatcher and now trains new officers. He has worked his way up to the rank of Emergency Communications Officer II (ECOII), highlighting his growth and commitment to public safety.

Thephavong received a gift basket and a gift card from Exacom for his work.

“I am extremely proud to have Eddie as part of the department,” said Chief Fong. “I am confident that any call Eddie answers, he is prepared for. I couldn’t think of a better person to receive this award.”
