Garrison Elementary School Celebrates April with Series of Engaging Assemblies

DOVER — Dover School District is pleased to highlight an exciting series of Friday assemblies taking place throughout April at Garrison Elementary School.

The assemblies are designed to spark curiosity and further student learning through interactive experience. The assembly held on Friday, April 10, featured the Weather Pros Weather Bus, offering students an introduction to meteorology, and The Planet Earth Challenge.

The day began with a schoolwide presentation focused on weather phenomena such as clouds, tornadoes and hurricanes. Students participated in quiz-style games within the assembly, demonstrating their knowledge and enthusiasm.

As a result of their outstanding performance and participation, several students earned a pizza party for the entire school.

Following the assembly, classrooms rotated through hands-on learning sessions aboard the Weather Bus. Students had the opportunity to explore weather concepts in an interactive environment and step inside a green screen studio. They created their own weather forecasts and brought their classroom learning to life.

“This series of assemblies shows our commitment to experiential learning that inspires curiosity and excitement,” said Superintendent Dr. Christine Boston. “Experiences like the Weather Pros program not only reinforce academic concepts but also empower students to see themselves as active participants in their own learning.”

The Friday assembly series will continue throughout April, offering Garrison School students a variety of fulfilling education experiences. Future assemblies will focus on STEM and a visit by animal ambassadors for Earth Day.
