PLYMOUTH — The Salvation Army in Plymouth kicked off its iconic Red Kettle fundraising campaign for 2023 at its annual Red Kettle Kickoff event on Tuesday evening on the Plymouth Town Hall lawn.

During the event, The Salvation Army in Plymouth shared the spirit of community and collaboration to support local children and families heading into this Christmas season.

Businesses, community partners and others enjoyed a fun evening of music, hot chocolate and more, as the North River Brass Quintet performed holiday favorites prior to opening remarks giving by Plymouth Corps Envoy Anne Rich. A sing-along with the quartet followed.

Plymouth’s Director of Veterans Services Roxanne Witbeck also honored veterans in attendance.

State Rep. Matt Muratore dropped the first ceremonial coin into the kettle in recognition of funds collected at Christmas and throughout the year that are essential to The Salvation Army’s seasonal and yearly relief efforts.

Funds collected at Christmas and throughout the year are essential to The Salvation Army’s seasonal and yearly relief efforts. The Salvation Army anticipates more families than ever will seek holiday help this year, given rising inflation and poverty rates. Giving to red kettles is a holiday tradition for many, but people are often surprised to learn that the money raised stays directly in the community and will benefit neighbors in need.

In 2022, The Salvation Army in Plymouth provided toys, clothing and winter supplies to 700 Plymouth-area children and distributed 225 food gift baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Salvation Army in Plymouth hopes to provide even more assistance than what was provided last year through this year’s Red Kettle Campaign. The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps’ season of giving began at this year’s kickoff event.

Families in need count on donor support to have a joyous holiday season. Opportunities for individuals and businesses to show their support of The Salvation Army this holiday season are still available.
