DRACUT — Dracut Police charged a 36-year-old Dracut woman with firing several gunshots near the public beach at Lake Mascuppic on Sunday evening.

JESSICA MORROW, age 36, of DRACUT, was arrested and charged with:

  • Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Disturbing the Peace
  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License
  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle

On Sunday, July 19, at approximately 8:40 p.m., the Dracut Police Department was called to Willowdale Beach, at 23 Willowdale Road, for a report that a woman extended a gun from her vehicle window and fired gunshots in the air.

Police arrived to discover a shell casing in the area of Willowdale Road and Tyngsborough Road. Officers spoke to several witnesses who reported that a woman, later identified as MORROW, had been arguing with several people at the beach. Witnesses reported MORROW then got into a black Honda CRV and extended a handgun out the driver’s side window, fired three shots, and drove away.

There were no reported injuries.

Tyngsborough Police responded to the scene to assist, as Lake Mascuppic is located in both towns. Tyngsborough Police located a black Honda CRV belonging to MORROW parked outside of a bar on Parham Road in Tyngsborough. Police took MORROW into custody without further incident a short time later.

A subsequent search of the area around the bar by a K9 unit from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council located a loaded Glock 9mm handgun in the bushes.

MORROW was held at the Dracut Police station overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Lowell District Court.

Police Chief Peter Bartlett wishes to thank the Tyngsborough Police Department for its assistance in bringing the investigation to a quick conclusion.

These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
