COHASSET — Town Manager Christopher Senior and Cohasset Public Schools Superintendent Patrick Sullivan are pleased to share that members of the Cohasset community, including all Cohasset Public Schools students, will have the opportunity to speak with Cohasset native and NASA Astronaut Stephen Bowen while he’s aboard the International Space Station this Wednesday.

Members of the media are asked to arrive by 12:40 p.m. for staging purposes.

WHO:
NASA Astronaut Stephen G. Bowen, a Cohasset native and retired U.S. Navy captain, is the first submarine officer to be selected as an astronaut by NASA. Since becoming an astronaut, Bowen has flown on STS-126, STS-132 and STS-133 missions, and served as Commander of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station in March.
To date, he’s clocked more than 40 days in space, including 47 hours and 18 minutes in seven spacewalks.
Astronaut Bowen was born in Cohasset in 1964 and graduated from Cohasset High School in 1982.
WHAT:
The Town of Cohasset is excited to be partnering with NASA and Cohasset Public Schools for an unprecedented educational opportunity.
On Wednesday, Cohasset Public Schools students will have the opportunity to participate in this experience with Astronaut Bowen while he’s in space.
The live event will be streamed for all students to watch. For public viewing, the event will be live streamed on the Cohasset Live Streaming Facebook page, which can be accessed by clicking here or by typing in facebook.com/cohassetlivestreaming.
Media members are invited to watch and record the question and answer session. At the conclusion of the livestream, members of the media will be able to speak with students.
