DIGHTON – Town Administrator Michael Mullen, on behalf of the Town of Dighton and Dighton Police Department, would like to congratulate Police Chief Shawn Cronin for earning the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award for successfully completing three advanced law enforcement training courses this month.
The FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award is given to a law enforcement professional who successfully completes the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute. Chief Cronin completed his training on Friday, Nov. 4.
“Chief Cronin has been a dedicated member of the Dighton Police Department for the past two decades and in that time he has continuously sought new learning opportunities to further grow his knowledge of the law enforcement profession,” Town Administrator Mullen said. “Upon his completion of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy series, Chief Cronin is now equipped with even more knowledge to supplement his already well-established leadership skills.”
Supervisor Leadership Institute:
The FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute is a cutting-edge 4 1/2-day program built especially for first-line supervisors and middle managers with the goal of enhancing their leadership competencies. Faculty members are senior law enforcement leaders who are committed to passing on their lessons learned. Attendees engage in personality diagnostics, leadership case studies, mentoring, developing your people, performance management, risk management and credibility.
Command Leadership Institute:
The FBI-LEEDA Command Leadership Institute is a dynamic, intensive and challenging 4 1/2-day program specifically and uniquely designed to prepare law enforcement leaders for command-level positions.
The course’s focus is to provide real-life, contemporary, best-practice strategies and techniques for those aspiring to command-level assignments. Instructors are passionate and have executive-level law enforcement and leadership experience. Students engage in topics including credibility, command discipline and liability, dealing with problem employees and leading change within an organization.
Executive Leadership Institute:
This innovative program is designed for executive-level law enforcement leaders and focuses on the emerging challenges facing the law enforcement profession. The highly interactive program follows the FBI-LEEDA “Cops Talking to Cops” model of professional development. The seminar uses a wide range of source material and calls upon participants’ own professional experiences to facilitate individual development and learning.
Current course topics include generational leadership, paradigms and change objectives, power and influence, transactional and transformational leadership and the future of law enforcement.
“It is an honor and privilege to have had the opportunity to attend the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy series,” said Chief Cronin. “I look forward to using the knowledge I gained through these three courses to help our department continue to grow and better serve our community.”
