WEST NEWBURY — Superintendent Justin Bartholomew and the Pentucket Regional School District encourage parents and guardians to complete a COVID-19 testing consent form for all their children who attend district schools.
Tests will be given to students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while at school. School nurses will administer the tests.
Students identified as close contacts and who are asymptomatic will also be tested. Individuals will be tested daily for 5 days beginning on the day of exposure. Those who test negative will be allowed to remain in school under these test and stay protocols.
If the individual tests positive for COVID-19, they will be sent home and given instructions regarding the next steps to take, including self-isolation protocols and additional testing requirements.
Testing will only be conducted with parent or guardian authorization. To complete the authorization form, please click here.
“Completing this form is so important because it gives the district the opportunity to quickly test our students, conduct contact tracing and determine who should and should not be in school,” said Superintendent Bartholomew. “Our top priority is to keep students and staff safe and healthy, and testing is a key step in this process.”
Parents are reminded that students should not come to school if they are experiencing symptoms, including a fever of 100 degrees or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, runny nose, nausea or vomiting.
