EAST BRIDGEWATER — Council on Aging Director Nancy Hill would like to invite the East Bridgewater community to two events being held next month.

On Thursday, Sept. 16, the East Bridgewater Council on Aging and Continuum Hospice and Palliative Care will co-sponsor a Remembrance Service and Memorial Tree Dedication at 2 p.m. at the Center at Sachem Rock Senior/Community Center, 355 Plymouth St.

The event will be a time to honor, remember and celebrate older adult residents of East Bridgewater who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic for any reason, when friends and family could not gather in traditional ways.

Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be served and guests will be invited to decorate a painted rock to leave at the base of the tree or take home as a remembrance.

To ensure there are enough refreshments for all, those interested in attending are asked to contact the COA at 508-378-1610 to RSVP.

On Monday, Sept. 27, EB HOPE and the East Bridgewater Council on Aging will co-sponsor a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the

Center at Sachem Rock Senior/Community Center, 355 Plymouth St.

The event will feature valuable information and resources for grandparents in the community. A panelist of speakers include members from EB Hope, the Plymouth County Drug Abuse Task Force, Community Connections of Brockton and the Family Center, Kinship Navigator, Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids/Health Law Advocates, the Commission on Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Old Colony Elderly Services, Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, and more.

An Italian buffet-style dinner will be served, and supervised activities for children ages 3-plus will be provided by the Community Connections of Brockton and the Family Center.

To RSVP for the event, call the COA at 508-378-1610 by noon on Friday, Sept. 17.

Both events are family-friendly and for all ages.
