Acton Recreation Department Invites Public to Summer Concerts and Events

ACTON — Town Manager John S. Mangiaratti and the Acton Recreation Department invite residents and community members to attend a series of concerts and events this summer.

All events will take place at the amphitheater at NARA Park, 25 Ledge Rock Way. The events are open to both Acton residents and non-residents. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets as early as possible.

The amphitheater is an outdoor venue with lawn seating. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, bug spray, and hand sanitizer. Portable toilets will be available on site. Parking also is available on site and is free. 

Those interested in attending may visit actonrec.com for ticket information and to purchase discounted tickets in advance. Tickets may also be purchased in advance at the Recreation Department office, 50 Audubon Drive, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets at the gate are subject to availability. Children 10 and under may attend concerts for free if attending with someone who has paid for admission.

Food, snacks, soft drinks, beer, and wine will be available for purchase. No outside alcohol, large coolers, or bags will be permitted. 

Cash and credit cards will be accepted at the events for tickets and food.  A fee of 3 percent will be added to all credit-card ticket purchases.

All events are subject to change. Doors open one hour prior to the start of each concert. 

Please note that due to COVID-19, attendees who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear a face covering. Frequent use of hand sanitizer is highly recommended and hand sanitizer will be made available. Attendees are also asked to practice social distancing. The Town of Acton is not liable for any exposure or illness due to COVID-19 or any other illnesses while attending these events. If an event is canceled due to COVID-19, a full refund will be issued. Attendees will also have the option to use the ticket at a later event.

Dirty Deeds — The AC/DC Experience

Friday, July 30, at 8 p.m.  

This concert features Dirty Deeds, an AC/DC tribute band that recreates the group’s unique tone, antics, and appearance. Dirty Deeds also uses interactive video, lighting and functional theatrical props during performances. Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or for $20 the day of or at the gate.

The Breakers — A Tribute to Tom Petty

Friday, Aug. 6, at 8 p.m. 

This concert features The Breakers, a tribute band that is known for expertly recreating the visuals, emotions, and sounds of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or for $20 the day of or at the gate.

Free Family Movie Nights

Wednesday, Aug. 11 and 18, at Dusk (approximately 7:30 p.m.)

The first movie night will feature “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone” and the second will feature “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.” Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Terrapin — The Ultimate Grateful Dead Experience

Friday, Aug. 13, at 8 p.m.

This concert features Terrapin, a tribute band that offers an authentic mix of Grateful Dead tunes that will appeal to longtime fans, as well as newly acquainted listeners. 

Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or for $20 the day of or at the gate.

Into the Floyd — The International Pink Floyd Tribute and Full Laser Light Show

Saturday, Aug. 21, at 8 p.m. 

Into the Floyd performs a wide array of Pink Floyd music, ranging from the band’s earliest material in 1967 to its final album in 2014. Into the Floyd emulates the experience of a live Pink Floyd concert with lighting and laser visuals. Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or for $20 the day of or at the gate.

Free Beach Party

Sunday, Aug. 22, from 12-3 p.m.

This event will feature the Scooby Snax Band, beach access, and fun games. Wristbands may be purchased for $5 each to use the waterslide. Grilled food will be available for purchase.

Foreigners Journey

Saturday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m.

Foreigners Journey performs rock classics from both Foreigner and Journey in the original key and pitch. The tribute band’s new lead singer, Constantine Maroulis, is a two-time Tony-nominated star of Broadway’s “Rock of Ages” and “American Idol” fame. The band will perform “Faithfully,” “Waiting for A Girl Like You,” “Open Arms,” “Cold as Ice,” “Urgent,” “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Jukebox Hero,” “Separate Ways,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Anyway You Want It,” and more. Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or for $20 the day of or at the gate.

Broken Arrow — The Music of Neil Young

Friday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m.

This concert features Broken Arrow, a tribute band that performs the music of Neil Young from electric Crazy Horse tunes to acoustic country-rock music. The band delivers these classic songs while also putting its own twist on some arrangements. Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or for $20 the day of or at the gate.

Kids Musicfest

Sunday, Sept. 26, at 12 p.m. 

This event will feature national award-winning children’s bands Karen K. and The Jitterbugs, Steve Elci & Friends, and Ben Rudnick and Friends. There will also be fun activities, including arts and crafts. Tickets are $10 per person. The event is free for children under the age of 2.

“I would like to thank all of these bands for coming to Acton and sharing their talents with us,” said Town Manager Mangiaratti. “We encourage all residents to attend these events with their friends, family members and neighbors, and hope to see big crowds.”
