Raymond High School Gym Available as Warming Shelter for Families Displaced by Sunview Apartments Fire

RAYMOND —  Superintendent Tina McCoy reports the Raymond High School gymnasium will be available as a shelter for all community members affected by a fire at an apartment complex in town this morning.

The gym will remain open for the remainder of the week for all residents and families affected by the fire at the Sunview Apartment complex on Route 27. The warming center will be open until 10 p.m. every day through Thursday, Feb. 11 and will be open until 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12. Phone chargers and internet access will be available for those at the shelter, and movies will be shown for young children. Bathrooms and locker rooms will be available for those in need as well.

Masks will be required and provided to those who may need one. Individuals will be asked to practice social distancing as well. 

Tuckaway Tavern will be donating lunch for those at the shelter and Lowes has donated items such as water, bins, gloves and some pillows.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost for any individual affected by the fire until further notice. Those who wish to receive pre-ordered bagged meals should contact School Nutrition Services Director Judy DiNatale at 603-895-6616 ext. 2345 or at j.dinatale@sau33.com.

School district social workers will be reaching out to the families of students who may be impacted to make sure they have what is needed to continue their education without disruption during this difficult time. Families can also contact the district’s social workers as well:

Those who wish to donate items to those affected may drop off the items at Raymond High School until 2 p.m. today. Donations, such as spare clothing and socks, will be accepted. Donations of gift cards or other monetary donations for impacted individuals or families also will be accepted at RHS until Friday, Feb. 12 at noon.
