BRIDGEWATER — Town Manager Michael Dutton is pleased to report that the Town of Bridgewater held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new High Street water treatment plant on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Once completed, the facility will help reduce levels of iron, manganese and other minerals in the water from nearby wells that serve residents in the area. The site will include multiple filtration units, chemical treatment systems, pumping systems and onsite backwash disposal lagoons with infiltration basins.
A new water treatment plant garage will be built on site, and upgrades will be made to the existing maintenance garage as well.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed in approximately 18 months, was approved by the Town last year. The construction of the plant will be funded by a $6.25 million loan through the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
“We are grateful for the support from the Town for this very important project,” Town Manager Dutton said. “Once completed, the new High Street water treatment plant will greatly improve the water quality for a number of our residents.”
The Town has partnered with the following agencies as part of the project:
Environmental Partners (Project Manager), Waterline Industries Company (Construction Firm), and Stantec (Project Design).
