HULL — Superintendent Judith Kuehn is pleased to report that the Hull Public Schools has released a video message from the nurses in each of the district’s three schools.
The nurses in the Jacobs Elementary School, Memorial Middle School and Hull High School are featured in the video welcoming students back to school and sharing the many health and safety protocols in place for the new school year.
The protocols and procedures highlighted in the video include:
- Designated medical waiting areas for any student in the district who shows potential signs of COVID-19
- Staff PPE training that took place prior to the start of the school year
- The ways parents and school staff can work together to prevent the spread of the virus
- The plans that are in place for teachers to follow should a student show symptoms
- Sanitization stations and supplies that are available in all schools, including in each nurse’s office
School nurses in the district include Jacobs Elementary School nurse Kathleen Keegan, Memorial Middle School nurse Sharon Striglio and Hull High School nurse Tricia Roach.
“We have worked very hard to prepare for this school year, not only to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our buildings but also how to react in the event of a student showing symptoms or receiving a positive diagnosis,” Keegan said.
Each of the three school nurses are full-time in their respective building, and each is nationally board certified.
“The role of a school nurse has grown and developed over the years, and now more than ever we rely on them on a daily basis to help keep our students and entire school community safe,” Superintendent Kuehn said. “We are fortunate to have each of our nurses on staff, and they have been invaluable as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Hull Public Schools reminds all parents to monitor their children’s health daily and to keep them home if they show any symptoms or signs of being sick.
