Cohasset Police Department Implements Additional Cleaning Protocols to Combat COVID-19 Virus

COHASSET — Chief William Quigley is pleased to report that the Cohasset Police Department has implemented additional strict cleaning procedures in an effort to combat the COVID-19 virus.

As part of the department’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CPD officers have added regular cleaning measures to their daily routines. Each officer is responsible for using an electric disinfecting sprayer on their vehicles – whether four wheels or two.

The sprayers were acquired through Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act grant funding last month.

Similar cleaning is done every day in the station by Mandy Burgoon of the Facilities Department.

“Police officers should lead by example and have the highest standards for combating COVID-19, which is why we have implemented these strict daily cleaning procedures,” Chief Quigley said. “I thank the men and women of the Cohasset Police Department for their vigilance and attention to detail in combating the virus.”

Use of the electric disinfecting sprayer machine is in addition to the thorough cleaning protocols that have been used by Cohasset Police since the onset of the pandemic this spring. Additionally, employees from the Town’s facilities department visit the police station multiple times per day to clean and monitor air filtration equipment.

The Cohasset Police Department additionally recommends all residents follow the guidance of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) by continuing to wear cloth face coverings and adhering to social distancing measures at all times when out in public, avoiding large social gatherings and following proper hygiene practices at all times.
