CANTON — Fire Chief Charles Doody and Police Chief Ken Berkowitz are pleased to share that the Canton Fire Department will be hosting a live-streamed remembrance ceremony Friday to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, while also adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Typically, the department would host guests at the fire headquarters to honor those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the department will still host the ceremony with a small number of firefighters and police officers, but will not be inviting members of the public to attend in person.
Instead, all are welcome to view the live-streamed ceremony.
“This year has been extremely challenging but it is important that we continue to never forget Sept. 11, 2001,” said Chief Doody. “This year’s ceremony will look different from our usual ceremony, but we will still be able to remember and honor the lives that were lost that day as well as all of the first responders who were lost in service to their country.”
The event will include the raising and lowering of the American flag, a moment of silence and a bell ringing.
