RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Steve Woodward are pleased to announce the graduation of 78 students from Raymond High School.
“We couldn’t be more proud of the class of 2020 and are thrilled to be able to celebrate their accomplishments and achievements,” Superintendent McCoy said. “They truly rose to the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, showing perseverance and determination. Congratulations to each and every one of you, and good luck as you begin this next chapter in your life.”
Raymond High School held a socially distanced, in-person commencement ceremony on Friday, July 17 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester. Students and their families were screened before entering the stadium and were required to wear masks until they got to their seats. Chairs were spaced 6 feet apart on the field for graduates.
Gov. Chris Sununu was the keynote speaker for the graduation as well.
“Congratulations to the class of 2020, you’ve made it,” said Principal Woodward. “The last few months of your senior year presented challenges none of us could have imagined. You were able to show just how remarkable you are and overcome those challenges. I couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this significant accomplishment with you and your families.”
The class of 2020 Valedictorian is Mackenzie Sirrine.
“The past few years, especially this last semester, have been very difficult, but here we are,” Sirrine said. “In front of you are students who are all ready to enter their new lives as graduates; whether it’s heading off to college, deferring for a year or two, entering the workforce, or joining our nation’s military. As the class of 2020, we are proof that nothing is out of reach as long as you work hard enough for it.”
Sirrine will be attend the University of Tampa and plans to study environmental science and possibly marine biology.
The Salutatorian is Aileen Auclair, who will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
Class President Jeremiah “JJ” Audette gave a speech celebrating his fellow classmates as well. Audette will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
“Graduation signifies not only the end of high school, but also the beginning of the rest of our lives,” he said. “Go create the life that you’ve always imagined. Do what you never thought was possible. Whether you are furthering your education at a college or trade school, or going straight into the workforce or military, I wish each and every one of you good luck on whatever road life takes you on.”
Additional class of 2020 officers include Vice President Timothy Berard, Secretary Jenessa Pilotte and Treasurer Alianna Braley.
The event was filmed and live streamed thanks to the Raymond Cable TV Committee (RCTV), who graciously offered to provide up to $1,500 in funding for this service for the district. The video will be posted on the Raymond High School Facebook page and the RCTV website in the near future.
