NEW LONDON, New Hampshire — Kearsarge Regional High School lit up its stadium and issued a video celebrating the Class of 2020 yesterday.
Students have been participating in remote learning since mid-March as school facilities in New Hampshire have closed due to COVID-19, and although Kearsarge has not yet announced any plans moving forward for graduation or senior celebrations, a statewide stay at home advisory remains in place alongside urgent social distancing guidelines seeking to prevent the spread of the virus.
The video was released on Wednesday at 8:20 p.m., which is 20:20 in military time. The release was part of the #ShineOn2020 campaign, where schools across New Hampshire were asked to light up their sports stadiums in honor of the Class of 2020.
“We want to thank you for a great four years at Kearsarge Regional High School,” said Principal Bennett in the video. “Although this year didn’t end the way we all thought it was going to, you folks have done a great job. We will miss you and thank you for all your contributions. Remember, Kearsarge will always be home.”
Along with drone footage of the lit up stadium with “Class of 2020” in the center of the football field, seven faculty members were included in the video sharing their well wishes with seniors:

- Former Football coach Zach Matthews
- Boys Varsity Basketball coach Nate Camp
- Cross Country coach Peter Angus
- Kearsarge High School athletic trainer Molly Quigley
- KRHS Principal Rob Bennett
“We’re all so incredibly proud of the Class of 2020 and the amazing work they’ve down throughout their entire academic career in the Kearsarge Regional School District,” said Superintendent Winfried Feneberg. “We are working hard to identify appropriate, safe and special ways to celebrate and honor our graduates in light of the challenging circumstances imposed on us by the current health pandemic.”
The Class of 2020 was written on the field by KRHS Athletic Director Scott Fitzgerald for the drone video. The video was shot by Garrett Evans, who is an alumnus of Kearsarge Class of 1991 and whose wife, Tara Evans, is a middle school teacher.
