Bridgewater Police Arrest and Charge Three Georgia Men with Attempting to Steal Mail from Local Businesses

BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department arrested and charged three men from Georgia with attempting to steal mail from multiple businesses Monday, Feb. 24.

SHAKA M. HIGHTOWER-JAMES, AGE 22, of GRIFFIN, GEORGIA; JEREMIAH Z. GRAHAM, AGE 22, of LITHONIA, GEORGIA; and MICHAEL M. MOSLEY, AGE 23, of SAVANNAH, GEORGIA were each charged with:

• Possession of Burlgarious Tools
• Attempted Larceny
• Conspiracy to Commit a Crime

Additionally, MOSLEY was charged with Disguising Oneself to Obstruct Justice after providing a false name to police. He also had an active warrant out of Plymouth District Court.

All three individuals were arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Monday, Bridgewater Police Officer Joseph Parmeggiani was on patrol in the area of First Street when he observed a white 2020 Dodge Durango with Illinois license plates. The vehicle was a rental.

The vehicle was seen pulling up to multiple businesses and individuals were seeing reaching out of the vehicle and opening mailboxes.

After Officer Parmegianni observed the suspects go to four different businesses he conducted a traffic stop of the Durango on First Street and called for backup.

Through the subsequent investigation, MOSLEY, GRAHAM and HIGHTOWER-JAMES were placed under arrest.

In searching through the vehicle, officers found and seized a screwdriver and a pry bar. No mail was found in the vehicle.

The arrests come after the Bridgewater Police Department had received multiple reports from business owners reporting that mail, including checks, were missing from their mailboxes.

After investigating the complaints and obtaining video surveillance footage from the businesses, police discovered that people in a white-colored SUV had been “fishing” through the business’s mailboxes in the early morning hours.

Additional patrols were added in the area at night.

“This was great police work by our investigating officers and keen observation by Officer Parmegianni,” Chief Delmonte said. “We would ask that any business owners or residents that have had mail go missing lately to contact our department.”

The case remains under active investigation. If anyone believes they may have had their mail stolen or if any businesses have experienced any fraudulent account activity or financial theft over the past month, they are asked to call the Bridgewater Police Department at 508-697-0914.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
