Rochester Firefighters Hosting Pancake Breakfast to Benefit Colleague Battling Cancer

26-Year-Old Tyler Thurber is Undergoing Treatment for Lymphoma

ROCHESTER — Chief Mark Klose and Rochester Professional Firefighters President Sam Morrill are pleased to report that the Rochester Fire Department and its members are hosting a pancake breakfast to benefit Firefighter Tyler Thurber as he continues his fight against cancer.

WHEN: 

Sunday, Aug. 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: 

Rochester Fire Headquarters, 37 Wakefield St.

WHAT: 

Firefighter Thurber, who is only 26 years old, was recently diagnosed with Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma, and has started undergoing chemotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital.

His fellow firefighters are actively working to support him throughout his treatment, and would like to invite the community to join them in their effort by attending a pancake breakfast prepared by members of the department. While there is no fixed cost for the breakfast, attendees are asked to donate whatever amount they can to support Thurber’s fight against cancer. Donations can be made using cash or a check.
