NRT Bus Inc. Participates in Newburyport Lions Club Annual Bed Race

NORTH READING — NRT Bus Inc. is pleased to announce that drivers from its Newbury terminal participated in the Newburyport Lions Club Annual Bed Race yesterday.

The annual bed race is held every year during Yankee Homecoming to raise money for the Newburyport Lions Club’s local charities. This year’s race was held on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m.

Participants are required to decorate beds as floats, which they race one at a time down Federal Street propelled by human power only. Fittingly, NRT Bus Inc. decorated its float as a school bus and came in fourth place out of 16 teams, with only 10 seconds separating the second, third and fourth place winners.

This is the first time that NRT Bus Inc. has participated in the race, but drivers plan on entering again next year.

“This is a really fun way to get out in the community and help raise money for a great cause,” said NRT Bus Inc. Controller Kathleen McWilliams. “This was a successful first race for our drivers and we are eager to come back again for next year’s event.”
