Rochester to Host Community Photography Show
ROCHESTER — Rochester Main Street and Rochester First United Methodist Church are teaming up to host a free community photography show and contest for local photographers next month.
Continuing the tradition started years ago with the Rochester Public Library Community Photography Show, the Rochester First United Methodist Church in partnership with Rochester Main Street are now sponsoring the inaugural Community Photography Show for amateur photographers May 24 -June 13.
The public is invited to an opening reception on May 24 at 7 p.m., when the winners will be announced and prizes awarded. Refreshments and entertainment will follow.
A panel of professional photographers will be on-hand to discuss individual exhibitor’s work with those who wish to take advantage of this opportunity. This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase Rochester’s vibrant and thriving art community.
SCHEDULE:
Wednesday, May 24 at 7 p.m. — Photographers’ Reception
May 27 to June 12 — Photography Show Times Throughout the Exhibition:
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
- Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3 p.m.
- Special Showings: Friday, May 26, June 2 and June 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m
WHERE:
Rochester First United Methodist Church, 34 South Main St., Rochester
WHAT:
The event will kick off with an opening reception to announce winners and award prizes. A panel of professional photographers will discuss individual amateur exhibitor’s works and judge the photographs. First and second places ribbons will be awarded, and each judge will also award a “Judges Favorite” ribbon as well as “Best of Show” and “Special Merit” ribbons.
Photographers have been submitting their work over the past month. Please come out and support Rochester’s photographers.
