Groton Police Arrest Man For Sixth OUI Offense After Motor Vehicle Accident

GROTON — Chief Donald Palma Jr. reports that the Groton Police Department arrested a man last weekend for operating under the influence of alcohol after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident with personal injury.

NELSON H. PROGIN III, AGE 52, OF SUGAR HILL, N.H. is charged with:

  • OUI (Sixth Offense)
  • Possession of a Class E Drug
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation

On Saturday, Jan. 16, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injury in the area of Forge Village Road on Boston Road.

During the course of the investigation, police arrested PROGIN. He was arraigned at Ayer District Court on Monday, Jan. 19.

“This man has continued to act recklessly without care or concern for himself and the safety of other drivers on the road,” Chief Palma said. “This investigation is open and ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.”

These are allegations. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
