North Reading Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Rt. 62

Single Car Crashed into House

Rt. 62 Closed in Area, No Access to North Reading from Middleton

NORTH READING — Police Chief Michael P. Murphy reports that the North Reading Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash this morning.

Early Friday morning, police received a report of a car that had crashed into a home on Rt. 62, otherwise known as Elm Street, near Judith Drive.

The driver was declared deceased at the scene.

The scene remains very active at this time, and additional information will be released when it is available.

Rt. 62 is closed in the area, between the Middleton Town Line and Mid Iron Drive. There is no motor vehicle access into North Reading from Middleton at this time.

Members of the media coming to North Reading may stage in the parking lot of Teresa’s Restaurant located at 20 Elm St. News media should approach from the SOUTH and show their identification to a police officer to be allowed entry. There is no access from the North/Middleton.
