Franklin Fire Department Responds to Explosion at Condominium

FRANKLIN — Chief Gary B. McCarraher reports that the Franklin Fire Department responded early Saturday morning to a reported explosion and fire at a condominium complex in town.

Calls came in at 6:48 a.m. for 58 Tuscany Drive, known as The Villages at Oak Hill.

Franklin Engine 2 reported heavy fire showing upon arrival.

The fire was contained by 8:15 a.m., and investigators will be on scene for an extended period of time Saturday.

The fire is under investigation by the Franklin Fire Department, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal, and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.

There is no word at this time on an origin or cause.

Mutual aid was provided by the Bellingham, Norfolk, Wrentham, and Plainville Fire Departments.
