Stoneham and Boston Police Work Together to Arrest Robbery Suspect Wanted for Crimes in Both Communities

Suspect Connected to Botched C-Store Robbery from Saturday

STONEHAM — Police Chief James McIntyre announces that the Stoneham Police Department, working in conjunction with the Boston Police Department, today arrested a wanted suspect believed to be connected to recent robberies in both communities, including the botched Saturday evening robbery of a convenience store in Stoneham.

JASON REARDON, AGE 45, OF EVERETT was arrested near his apartment, and Stoneham Police charged him with:

• Attempt to Commit a Crime (Robbery)
• Malicious or Wanton Destruction of Property
• Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
• Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
• Witness Intimidation

These charges stem from REARDON’S alleged role in the attempted robbery of a convenience store, the C-Store on Main Street in Stoneham, when the clerk refused to cooperate with the robbers and engaged them in a struggle. A second suspect, BRETT R. OSGOOD, AGE 25, of REVERE was arrested shortly after the robbery, but REARDON remained at large until today.

During the course of the investigation, Stoneham Detectives were contacted by a Boston Police Detective, who recognized the weapon, which appeared to be a handgun, from surveillance footage from the Stoneham robbery. The detective believed this handgun matched one seen in surveillance video captured during the Boston robbery.

Stoneham detectives conducted surveillance of REARDON’S apartment in Everett and arrested him without incident this afternoon, with the assistance of Everett Police officers.

Searching his apartment after receiving a warrant, detectives found a Colt Defender BB gun that matched the description of a weapon shown in video footage of both the Stoneham and Boston robberies.

“The tremendous level of cooperation shown by municipal police departments, from the first minutes following our incident on Saturday, helped us quickly close this case,” Chief McIntyre said. “In this instance, Stoneham, Revere, Boston, and Everett Police Officers all worked together and took two dangerous felons off the streets this week.”

REARDON will be arraigned in Woburn District Court tomorrow and will face Boston charges at a later date.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
