Methuen Police Charge Juvenile with Breaking and Entering, Assault and Battery after he allegedly Breaks into Home

Incident not a Random Act

METHUEN — Chief Joseph Solomon and Mayor James Jajuga report that the Methuen Police Department arrested a teenager and charged him after he allegedly pushed his way into a residence and tried to coerce a resident into fighting him.

A JUVENILE MALE, AGE 16, OF LAWRENCE faces charges of Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime with the Intent to Commit a Felony and Assault and Battery.

On Monday, Oct. 21 at 9:48 p.m., the Methuen Police Department received a 911 call about a possible home invasion on Swan Street. When officers arrived, they spoke with a female resident who reported that she heard knocking at her front door and, upon opening the door, saw two teenage males standing there, with one of the males demanding to speak with her juvenile son.

One of the teens then allegedly pushed past the woman and the two teens ran toward the son’s bedroom. When the mother announced that she had called the police, the juveniles ran away.

No one was injured.

Methuen Police established a perimeter and requested a K-9 unit to come to the scene. The K-9 search led police to a residence in Lawrence. Methuen and Lawrence Police located the suspect and placed him under arrest without further incident.

The incident appears to stem from an earlier altercation. The parties are known to each other.

The suspect will be arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence Juvenile Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
