Bedford, N.H. Police Respond to Crash Involving Motorcycle

BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department responded to a crash Thursday night where a man operating a motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Bedford Police responded to a serious motor vehicle crash near Route 101 westbound, east of Nashua Road.

Upon arrival, police found a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was rear-ended by a 2013 Dodge Dart.

Route 101 westbound was closed while first responders treated the motorcyclist, a 59-year-old man of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, who suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital via ambulance.

The operator of the car, a 22-year-old man of Keene, declined medical treatment on-scene.

An initial on-scene investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Route 101 approaching the Nashua Road intersection when it was struck from behind and pushed forward. This caused the 59-year-old man to be thrown from his motorcycle.

Due to the seriousness of the crash, Route 101 westbound remained closed until after midnight while the Bedford Police Department’s Technical Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Bedford Police Department. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Bedford Police Department at 603-472-5113.
