Carver Police Seeking the Public’s Assistance in Identifying Vehicle in Hit-and-Run at School Bus Stop

CARVER — The Carver Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying a pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run incident that injured two Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School students at a bus stop early this morning.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Carver Police were notified by Old Colony Bus Company of an incident that occurred along a bus stop on Forest Street where the driver of the bus witnessed an incident involving two 16-year-olds who were injured by a passing vehicle.

It was reported to police that one juvenile was transported by family from the scene to an area hospital for treatment of injuries and later released. One juvenile was later brought to an area hospital by family for treatment of their injuries.

A preliminary investigation by Carver Police determined that the students were waiting for the school bus, which was approaching the stop with its yellow warning lights flashing. They were both struck by the side mirror of what was described as a dark-colored pickup truck with LED lights. The vehicle drove off after hitting the students.

“We have reached out to the families of the injured students,” said Aaron Polansky, Superintendent-Director of Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School in Rochester. “We are keeping both students and their families in our thoughts, and wish them a fast and full recovery. We encourage members of the community to assist the Carver Police Department with their investigation in any way possible.”

Carver Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle. Anyone who has any information or was in the area of Forest Street around 6 a.m. is asked to contact Carver Police Detective Joshua Shaw at 508-866-2000 x1612.
