LEXINGTON — Since 1996, the Battlegreen Run Foundation has distributed more than $1.4 million to dozens of nonprofit organizations in and around Lexington that support childhood illness, fund medical research, assist falsely incarcerated individuals and offer free mental health counseling to young adults and their families, among a number of other causes. Each beneficiary partner has their own story, but all share a commitment to improving lives and strengthening the communities they serve.
The Battlegreen Run Foundation’s signature event, the GenesisHR Battlegreen Run, is how the Foundation is able to collect and distribute its charitable donations. Each year, upwards of 50 sponsors contribute financial support toward the race, as well as a number of donations from members of the general public who support the Foundation and its nonprofit beneficiaries.
However, a large portion of the money the Battlegreen Run Foundation collects comes from participation in its signature event, the GenesisHR Battlegreen Run. The run, which is held once a year, distributes a portion of race registrations toward its nonprofit beneficiaries. With thousands of runners each year, that money adds up.
As the Foundation seeks to cross the threshold of $1.5 million in charitable giving, this is truly a year where every runner matters and every donor makes a difference.
This year’s GenesisHR Battlegreen Run will be held on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. The Battlegreen Run Foundation strives to provide race options for all ages and abilities, including an almost 10k run, a 5k run, a 5k walk, a 1.2-mile walk, and virtual options for a 10k, 5k and 1.2-mile.
You can register for any of these options and learn more about the race at battlegreenrunfoundation.org/register.
With your registration, you can help benefit Supportive Living Inc., an organization devoted to taking a holistic approach to care for individuals affected by brain injury and other neurological conditions. Or One Smile at a Time Foundation, which seeks to provide joy to young children battling critical illnesses by creating moments or providing little gifts to bring a smile to a child’s face. Or Esperanza – Hope for the Children, which provides charitable services including finanical assistance for medical treatment and educational costs for the impoverished people living in Honduras.
