ACTON — The Acton Fire Department is welcoming an experienced EMT to its ranks now that she has graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Career Recruit Program.
Firefighter/EMT Victoria Boutin was hired by Acton Fire in October 2025 and has now completed the 10-week Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Career Recruit Program.
Firefighter/EMT Boutin will now go to work on apparatus in Acton while she also completes a paramedic training program.
Firefighter/EMT Boutin has experience working as an EMT for Lawrence General Hospital and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences from the University of New England.
Over the course of the 10-week Career Recruit Program, students receive extensive classroom training in all basic firefighter skills, practicing under non-fire conditions and during controlled fire conditions. Graduates demonstrate proficiency in life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation, and fire attack, ranging from mailbox fires to multi-floor structural fires.
“I am pleased that we are welcoming an experienced EMT to our ranks,” said Chief Anita Arnum. “Firefighter/EMT Boutin worked hard in the academy to build firefighting skills as well, and she is furthering her education by training to become a paramedic.”
