Canton Fire Department Responds to Reported Gas Leak on Spring Lane at Chapman Street

CANTON — Canton Fire Department is on the scene of an active gas line rupture near the intersection of Spring Lane and Chapman Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2-inch break, and homes along Spring Street have been evacuated. Crews from Eversource Energy are on the scene.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and utilize Washington Street as a detour. 

“This is an active emergency situation,” said Canton Fire Chief Jamie Meier. “Please avoid the area surrounding the intersection of Spring Lane and Chapman Street until we can ensure the area is safe.”
