NEWPORT — The Newport Police Department arrested and charged a man with Lewd and Lascivious Conduct following an investigation into a Department of Children and Families report.
AMISADAI SANCHEZ-CORDOVA, AGE 53, of HOLLAND, was arrested and charged with:
- Lewd and Lascivious Conduct
On April 30, 2026, the Newport Police Department received an intake from the state Department of Children and Families (DCF) which alleged that SANCHEZ-CORDOVA had engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a juvenile. Through a preliminary investigation, officers determined that SANCHEZ-CORDOVA also engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with another individual. Both the juvenile and other individual resided in the same household as him.
Through a subsequent investigation, led by Newport Det. James LeClair, it was determined that SANCHEZ-CORDOVA attempted to make nonconsensual sexual contact with an individual in the home. He also forced the individual to watch a video that was pornographic in nature.
It was also determined that SANCHEZ-CORDOVA made sexual comments and abusive threats toward the juvenile.
Newport Police arrested SANCHEZ-CORDOVA on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
SANCHEZ-CORDOVA was held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned in Orleans County Superior Court today.
