MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Police Department is working an active incident involving an individual who is believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis and is armed with a firearm in a vehicle outside the Mansfield Police Station.
At this time, officers have established a secure perimeter around the area while they work to bring the situation to a safe resolution.
The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (METRO-LEC) is responding to assist. The Mansfield Fire Department is staged to assist as needed, and local police departments are providing mutual aid to help with detours and road closures.
Residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice. This is an isolated incident and there is no additional threat to the public beyond the immediate area of the incident.
