BLACKSTONE — A massive fireworks display will be the centerpiece of the Town of Blackstone’s celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday next weekend.
The fireworks are set to ignite at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, 175 Lincoln St., Blackstone.
Blackstone Fire Chief Kevin Roy confirmed that the sky over Blackstone will light up in spectacular fashion as the centerpiece of the Town’s U.S. Semiquincentennial Celebration, a weekend packed with events from July 23-26.
“After 10 months of planning, the countdown is officially on — and we couldn’t be more excited!” said Celeste Langlois, one of Blackstone’s 250th Semiquincentennial Celebration Committee members and the Town’s Parks and Recreation Commission Chairperson. “Next weekend, Blackstone will come alive with a spectacular four-day celebration on July 23, 24, 25 and 26.”
The main attraction will be a four-day carnival.
“But the fun doesn’t stop there,” said Langlois. “Join us for delicious food trucks, live music, local vendors, family-friendly entertainment, and a dazzling fireworks display on Saturday, July 25.”
A fireworks rain date has been set for Sunday, July 26, at 9 p.m., in case of inclement weather.
“This is the first event of its kind in Blackstone in several decades, making it a truly historic celebration for our community,” Langlois said. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone and see the smiles, excitement, and memories made at this unforgettable event!”
The Semiquincentennial Committee advises fireworks show attendees to arrive with lawn chairs and blankets early to claim a good spot on school grounds.
