Hanson Fire Department to Host Annual Open House on April 19

HANSON — The Hanson Fire Department is inviting residents to stop by the station for a morning of family-friendly activities during its Annual Open House on Sunday, April 19.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the department’s headquarters at 505 Liberty St. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend, meet their local firefighters and learn more about the equipment and work involved in emergency response.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore fire apparatus up close during a Touch-a-Truck experience, where attendees can climb inside vehicles and take photos. Firefighters will also offer guided tours of the station, giving residents a behind-the-scenes look at where crews train, work and live while on duty.

Throughout the event, firefighters will conduct a demonstration using the department’s hydraulic rescue tools, commonly known as the Jaws of Life, showing how the equipment is used during emergency rescues.

Guests will also have the chance to meet first responder therapy dogs.

The event is free and open to the public.

“The Open House is a great opportunity for residents to connect with our firefighters and learn more about what we do every day to serve the community,” said Chief Robert O’Brien. “We hope families will stop by, ask questions and enjoy the activities we have planned.”
