DOVER — The Town of Dover’s Housing Task Force invites residents to join them at their upcoming virtual Public Forum at 7 p.m. on March 31.

The forum will include an overview of the project so far, a presentation on housing in Dover, and provide an opportunity for participants to help describe their vision of Dover in terms of addressing and accommodating a range of housing needs and hopes.

Dover’s Housing Task Force was formed in 2023 to proactively address land use and housing development pressures in Town.

“The Board of Selectmen and representatives from the Town Boards and Departments involved with land use are working together to ensure that a comprehensive plan and tool kit for diversifying our housing stock and providing affordable housing opportunities is developed,” said Dover Town Planner Melissa M. SantucciRozzi.

In 2024, Town Meeting supported the initiative by approving $100,000 to develop a comprehensive Dover Development and Housing Plan. Following an extensive RFP (Request for Proposal) process, the Town awarded a contract to Barrett Planning Group LLC in November 2025 to serve as our consultant for this project.

The Housing Roadmap will be developed through 2026, with multiple opportunities for community input.

The plan will eventually answer several key housing questions in Town: What does planning for housing involve? Why does it matter? How will the Town address its housing challenges?

A dedicated Dover Housing Roadmap webpage has been developed to inform and keep residents updated on these efforts, which will include extensive public outreach and participation. The page will serve as a central hub for project information, updates, and engagement opportunities throughout the planning process.

“Please join us for our first virtual Community Forum, on Tuesday, March 31,” said Robyn Hunter, Chair of the Board of Selectmen. “The opinions of our residents matter most. We look forward to this opportunity to hear community members’ thoughts on housing in Dover.”
