LUDLOW — The Town of Ludlow, Ludlow Police, Ludlow Department of Public Works and Springfield Water and Sewer are currently on scene at a water main break.
The large water main break has occurred at the intersection of Arch Street and West Avenue. The Springfield Water and Sewer Department, in conjunction with Ludlow DPW, are currently working to mitigate the water main break.
Ludlow Police are currently assisting with traffic in the area.
At this time, Motyka Street connecting to West Avenue is closed, as well as Arch Street at the Center Street intersection. The area is also closed from the intersection of West Avenue and Fuller Street to West Avenue and Center Street.
Additionally, West Avenue and Fuller Street is blocked off, however motorists can utilize Fuller Street for travel. West Avenue and Center Street are blocked but the public can still travel on Center Street.
Center St. and Fuller St. are open for travel and are being used as detours.
Residents are asked to avoid the area at this time, adhere to the posted detour signs and traffic signals, and give themselves extra time to travel.
Due to the water main break, residents may experience limited or no water pressure and discoloration of water.
