LUDLOW — Chief Ryan Pease reports that the Ludlow Fire Department extinguished a house fire on Sunday.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Ludlow Central Dispatch received a report from a passing motorist reporting a fire at a two-family home at 1123 East St.
Upon arrival, responding crews observed fire and smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Ludlow Police utilized fire extinguishers to slow the spread of the fire.
Ludlow Fire arrived shortly after and advanced hose lines to fully extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to the first-floor kitchen area.
There were no reported injuries. Five residents from the first floor were displaced and are currently being housed on the second floor of the home.
Off-duty Ludlow Firefighters were called in to provide station coverage. Ludlow Police assisted on scene, and Ludlow Central Dispatch provided communication and logistical support throughout the incident.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, but it remains under investigation by Ludlow Fire.
