GEORGETOWN — The Georgetown Fire Department collected 3,695 toys as part of the annual Holiday Parade and donation drive.

During the parade, Santa, with the help of Georgetown Firefighters and generous volunteers, set out on Squad 1 and traveled through the streets of Georgetown, collecting toys for the Toys for Tots Foundation.

Georgetown Fire would also like to thank the local businesses sponsoring the event, which include:

  • Freedom Pest Control for providing sweatshirts for volunteers.
  • Georgetown Cafe for providing breakfast.
  • Georgetown Barbershop for providing lunch.
  • Today Real Estate – North Shore for providing lunch support.
  • Levia for providing dinner.
  • Trombly Brothers Towing and Automotive for sponsoring the Logo contest
  • G. Mello Disposal for assisting with Toy Collection Bins and for parade support.

Georgetown Fire started collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program in 2000. Since then, the department has become the largest collector of toys in Essex County.

Since 2000, it is believed the department has collected more than 100,000 toys, with 23,000 collected in just the last 6 years alone, thanks to the generosity of the residents of Georgetown.
