TAUNTON — Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School junior Percy Duphily has earned first place in the national high school category of the “Wicked: For Good” student poster contest.

The contest, sponsored by NBCU Academy, drew more than 2,000 submissions from across the country. More than 900 were entered in the high school division, and Bristol-Plymouth learned of Percy’s win on Tuesday morning.

Percy is a student in the Design and Visual Communications program. Her poster was created in response to the contest prompt asking students to show how they can make a positive difference in their communities. Her submission was selected as the top high school entry nationwide.

“This is a remarkable achievement for Percy and a proud moment for our entire school community,” said Superintendent-Director Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes. “Our students display skill, creativity and purpose in their technical programs every day, and Percy’s work is just one more example of that.”

Design and Visual Communications instructor Brendan Flynn said Percy approached the project with care and intention.

“Percy is thoughtful, hardworking and passionate about her craft,” he said. “This award is well earned, and it shows what students can achieve when they have the tools and space to express their ideas.”

As part of the award, contest organizers are sending prize packages to Bristol-Plymouth, including 35 Fandango gift cards to see “Wicked: For Good” in theaters, as well as “Wicked” merchandise for students. The school plans to share these items within the Design and Visual Communications program.
