WHITMAN — The Whitman Police Department is serving as a drop-off location for the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office “Meet the Moment” Holiday Food Drive, supporting local families in need this season.

The regional food drive runs through Dec. 5, collecting nonperishable food items to benefit food pantries across Plymouth County.

Community members are encouraged to bring donations to the Whitman Police Department, located at Memorial Field, 20 Essex St.

Suggested donation items include oatmeal, rice, beans, pasta, tuna, peanut butter, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, soup and pet food.

“This initiative is to help families in our community and across the county who may not have the resources to put a meal on the table, especially during the holiday season,” Chief Timothy Hanlon said. “We encourage residents to join us in meeting the moment and helping to make sure that no one goes without a meal this winter.”

Additional drop-off sites are also available at the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office on Long Pond Road in Plymouth, the Sheriff’s Farm on Obery Street in Plymouth and the Civil Process Office on Cottage Street in Brockton.

All collected food will be distributed to food pantries throughout Plymouth County.
