EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins is pleased to announce that the East Bridgewater Police Department has received $17,500 in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds through the Massachusetts Office of Grants and Research to support the state’s Municipal Road Safety Program for fiscal year 2026.
The grant was part of an overall $14 million in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration safety funding awarded by the Healey-Driscoll administration, including $6.2 million for 210 local police departments as part of the state’s Municipal Road Safety Program.
The program is designed to give municipal police departments flexible resources to address local traffic-safety issues through enforcement, equipment purchases or newer outreach strategies — including bicyclist and pedestrian safety, community education and other non-enforcement activities.
Chief Jenkins plans to use the funds to enhance traffic enforcement in identified high-incident zones, as well as to purchase traffic enforcement equipment.
“This funding from the Municipal Road Safety Program will help us keep East Bridgewater streets safe for motorists,” said Chief Jenkins. “All the support that we receive from our state and federal partners helps keep our police officers patrolling our streets, allowing us to provide all the equipment and training they need to protect our community. We thank the Healey-Driscoll administration and our federal partners for their continued support of this important grant funding.”
