On Sunday, Nov 2, at about 1:47 a.m., while on patrol Newburyport Officer Schyler Reilly began an investigation into suspicious activity at a gas station on Storey Avenue. Officer Reilly conducted a motor vehicle stop a short time later.
During the course of the investigation Newburyport officers discovered what appeared to be drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight. The investigation also uncovered multiple shell casings in the car.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of what is believed to be 931.5 grams of cocaine, 13.5 grams of crack cocaine, 7.1 grams of marijuana, and 4 units of Ecstasy, as well as scales and cutting utensils consistent with a drug distribution operation.
The search also uncovered a .357 caliber revolver, a revolver cartridge containing 25 bullets, two revolver cartridges totaling 53 bullets, as well as a set of metallic knuckles.
Police determined that LASH did not have a Massachusetts License to Carry, and that KING was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Brockton District Court.
Officers placed LASH and KING under arrest without incident.
Two other passengers, a 25-year-old woman from Warren, Me., and a 24-year-old woman from Rockland, Me., requested medical attention at the scene. They were transported by Atlantic Ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation.
KING is being held without bail, and LASH is being held on $50,000 bail. Both are scheduled to be arraigned in Newburyport District Court on Monday.
These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
