Essex Police Department Seeking Vehicle That Left Scene After Striking Child on Electric Scooter

ESSEX — The Essex Police Department is seeking a silver or gray Mercedes convertible that left the scene after striking an 11-year-old child who was riding an electric scooter on Thursday afternoon.

ESSEX — The Essex Police Department is seeking a silver or gray Mercedes convertible that left the scene after striking an 11-year-old child who was riding an electric scooter on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, at approximately 3:22 p.m., an 11-year-old child was struck by a vehicle at Western Avenue and Pond Street.

The driver of the vehicle — a silver or gray Mercedes convertible with Florida license plates — flagged down a police officer and then left the scene. 

The child was not seriously injured and did not require transport to a hospital. The child’s parent responded to the scene. 

The driver of the Mercedes convertible is described as an older white male. 

Essex Police ask anyone with information about this vehicle or its driver to call the department at 978-768-6628.
