SPRINGFIELD — The 2025 Pulitzer Trophy event officially begins today, bringing together leading innovators, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts for a six-day event highlighting the future of electric flight.
Festivities began this morning at 9 a.m. with a welcome reception, followed by hands-on experiences in cutting-edge eVTOL simulators from BETA Technologies, Joby Aviation, and Pivotal.
The BETA Alia and Pivotal BlackFly will also be on static display, offering attendees a close look at next-generation electric aviation design.
Friday is STEM Education Day, and students witnessed a drone demonstration in the hangar that showcased advanced flight control and automation capabilities. That leads into an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Career Panel at 11:30 a.m., where industry experts will discuss emerging opportunities in this rapidly growing field.
Guests will enjoy lunch provided by Chick-fil-A at 12:30 p.m., before the day concludes with a seminar wrap-up at 1:15 p.m. and the official kickoff of the XPlane Virtual Races.
Friday’s events are free and open to the public.
These activities lead into the start of the Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race, the world’s first crewed all-electric air race that honors the spirit of the Pulitzer Air Races of the 1920s while celebrating aviation’s sustainable future.
The event, organized by the Advanced Air Mobility Institute and the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence, will take place Oct. 10-15 at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport.
