Middleborough Health Department to Host Car Seat Safety Day on Sept. 29

MIDDLEBOROUGH — About half of all car seats are installed incorrectly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To help families keep children safe, the Middleborough Health Department will host a Car Seat Safety Day on Monday, Sept. 29.

The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. on the front lawn of Middleborough Town Hall, at 10 Nickerson Ave.

Certified technicians will be on hand to check car seats and ensure they are properly installed, while providing safety guidance to parents and caregivers.

The event follows Child Passenger Safety Week, which is recognized each year in September, and brings heightened awareness to how parents and caregivers can keep children safe in vehicles.

In addition to car seat checks, attendees will have access to a variety of health and safety resources. The event will also feature giveaways and activities for kids. The Car Seat Safety Day is free and open to all residents. No registration is required.

“Car seats save lives, but only when they’re used correctly,” said Middleborough Health Director Kayla Smith. “This event is a great opportunity for families to double-check their installation or get a new car seat installed, pick up resources, and enjoy a community day focused on safety.”

For more information about Car Seat Safety Day, residents can contact the Middleborough Health Department at 508-946-2408.
