EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins is pleased to announce that the East Bridgewater Police Department is welcoming three newly certified full-time officers to its ranks.
Officers Jessy Heger, Conner McDermott and Collin Briggs graduated on Friday after completing the 22-week Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) 78th Recruit Officer Course held in Plymouth.
Officers Heger, McDermott and Briggs then began their 12-week Field Training with an assigned Field Training Officer on Monday.
The three new East Bridgewater Police officers will be formally sworn in at the Select Board meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday.
Officers Heger and McDermott both began their careers at the East Bridgewater Police Department as civilian dispatchers. Officer Heger started as a full-time civilian dispatcher in 2021, while Officer McDermott began his work as a full-time civilian dispatcher in 2018. Both have served as reserve police officers since 2021, after completing the MPTC Basic Reserve Police Academy.
Both Officer Heger and Officer McDermott were initially appointed as full-time police officers in January 2025.
Officer Heger grew up in East Bridgewater and graduated from Westfield
State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and minors in political science and business management.
Officer McDermott grew up in East Bridgewater and graduated from Bridgewater State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Officer Briggs grew up in Whitman, graduating from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. Officer Briggs, who will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, was awarded for finishing first in the physical fitness portion of the 22-week MPTC 78th Recruit Officer Course in Plymouth.
Officer Briggs was initially appointed as a full-time officer in August 2025.
“I look forward to watching these newly certified and trained officers become invaluable members of our team for many years to come, and I’m appreciative of their commitment to serve our community,” said Chief Jenkins.
