GEORGETOWN – The Town of Georgetown is pleased to announce that its new outdoor Fitness Court® is officially open for use, providing residents with free and equitable access to high-quality workouts.

The court was established through a partnership among Georgetown, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA), and the National Fitness Campaign (NFC). The town was able to install the court through Community Preservation Act funding, financial support from BCBSMA, and grants from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Agency and the Georgetown Athletic Association.

Georgetown is one of 17 Campaign Partners working to establish a network of Fitness Courts across the state, with the support of BCBSMA.

The Fitness Court® is the world’s best outdoor gym, enabling users to leverage their own body weight for a comprehensive workout using seven exercise stations.

Created for adults of all abilities aged 14 and older, the Fitness Court® workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users may also download the free Fitness Court® App, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

To celebrate the new court, members of the Town and BCBSMA gathered on Wednesday, Aug. 27, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We are grateful to partner with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and the National Fitness Campaign to make exercise accessible and free for all residents,” said Town Administrator Orlando Pacheco. “Maintaining health and wellness should be a barrier-free experience, which is why we believe in the necessity of supporting initiatives like this one.”

The Fitness Court®, located at 51 North St., is now open for public use from dusk until dawn.
